Wearable devices to be using body heat as an energy source.

No battery? No problem! This new technology uses your skin’s thermal energy to generate power. Right now, this can only produce one volt of energy. This might not sound like a lot, but as Futurism states in their recent blog, it is “enough to power small-scale electronics including watches and fitness trackers”.

Our body is a heat engine and heat is energy! As the skin heats up, thermal energy radiates outwards. This usually goes to waste, but with this new technology, thermoelectric generators convert heat to electricity that can power the Internet of Things (IoT).

This opens up new avenues for sustainable energy! Read more about this by clicking on the link below.

This Wearable Uses Your Body Heat as an Energy Source

A team of researchers at the University of Colorado at Boulder have developed a wearable that can tap into its wearer’s natural body heat to virtually turn the human body into a battery, no lithium-ion battery required. The bendy device can shape itself to be in contact with the contours of the skin and can be worn like a ring or bracelet.
