Endless amounts of data are available for use: from sensors on smartphones, satellites or drones. How can we use it to create a better world? This is what World Economic Forum discusses in their recent post. Information that was previously inaccessible or even not available to regulators and governments, can now be used to change our policies in an informed and efficient way, to ensure a better future. How? WEF talks about climate change and explains how the use technology offers a unique opportunity to find and solve environmental issues at a “fraction of the cost or time of traditional regulatory approaches”.
But it doesn’t stop there.
Data from smart devices can transform our governance systems and make them much more effective! We recently talked about how city design can be informed by big data, or how big data can personalise healthcare. Can we modernise our traditional systems to ensure economic growth, societal improvement and environmental sustainability?
