PTSD is a disorder that significantly affects the quality of one’s life. Indeed, in 2020, military suicides are up by 20%, states this blog. With face-to-face sessions being suspended, clinicians had to come up with innovate and technology-based solutions to help their patients.
This is where Virtual Reality comes in.
By reproducing traumatic scenes in a safe environment, veterans can face their anxieties and navigate through moments in their lives, with the presence of a supportive clinician. In fact, patients working with clinical psychologist & Director of Medical VR at Southern California University, Rizzo, saw a 50% decrease in PTSD symptoms including anxiety, depression, anger and isolation.
